I
never really believed in New Year's resolutions. I just think that if you want to make changes in your life, you should start it anytime. You don't have to wait for the start of a new year to do that. The sooner the better, especially if it's a resolution to make a healthy lifestyle change.

But I'm giving this resolution thing a try this year. Just a few changes. Nothing too big or too many, since I know myself well enough to know that I'm not good with sticking to long-term projects.

The first small, healthy changes I want to make have something to do with  loving myself and taking my pleasures seriously, as Charles Eames said.

Those changes sound a tad selfish, I know, but I want this year to be all about me. We all play so many roles in our lives everyday, all at once. Like Shakespeare said, all the world's a stage. I'm the good daughter, the best friend, the dutiful employee, dog owner, cat feeder, etc. I haven't given much time to actually doing the things that I dream of doing.

Like skydiving. Bungee jumping. A year of no red meat.

Ok, I kid. I'm not ready to jump out of a plane or off a bridge.

Loving myself means being mentally, emotionally and physically healthy. Like cutting down on coffee and starting a tea habit. Regulate my intake of sugar and meat. Eight solid hours of sleep each night, no matter what. Days off are days off, period. Stop fretting over that which I can't change.

Taking my pleasures seriously would mean pursuing my passions. Designing and drawing. Blog more. Watch more movies. Read more books. Travel.

This year, I WILL travel.

That's my one little word for this year. Change. My goal this year is to take small leaps of faith. Nothing huge.

Although I'm not ruling out skydiving as a possible goal in the future!

  4. Pom, I'll be blogging about these changes. I just hope I can stick to these "resolutions" for the entire year and reward myself with a trip abroad hehe.
