'm supposed to blog more about stuff I learned during the recent seminar I attended, but I've been meaning to post about one of the must-eat chicken meals in my city. I'd like to cross this out of my to-blog list today so here goes:
City Burger is one of the oldest chicken joints here. But don't be misled by the name. You simply don't go there to eat their burgers (which is, well, forgettable). People go to City Burger to eat barbecued chicken, which is coated in this delightfully sweet, but not too sweet, sauce. It really has me licking my fingers each time. This is how I imagine the blackened chicken that Chris cooks must taste like.
They serve it in paa (leg) and pitso (chicken breast). The photo above shows the pitso, which I prefer over the leg as it has more meat and juicy parts in it.
They serve the chicken steaming hot, straight from the grill and into your plate, or styrofoam container for take-outs.
What I love about City Burger is there's almost no waiting time for your barbecued chicken to be served. The chickens are grilled in their outdoor kitchen area where you can see a long line of chickens being grilled, sort of factory style. I highly recommend City Burger if you're in a rush or too hungry to wait for your food.
I'd like to say thank you to Danny D (the guy in blue in the pic below) - one of the most controversial and creative personalities I know- for buying us a couple of City Burger chickens at the office last week. It was his mini-celebration for a successful staging of the festival in Siquijor island, of which he was the over-all artistic director.
Of course the lunch was made more juicy with his stories of all the drama and catfights he got into, which usually happens when creative people of varying ego sizes meet.

If it lasted that long, may laban. The chicken must be good or caters to the taste of its market.
